Technology in the Classroom

Given the importance of technology to life skills today and in the future, computers are an integral part of the educational experience at Seton and are in every classroom.

Students in all grades have regular access to our Innovation and Instructional Technology Center (ITC) with state-of-the-art hardware and software during scheduled classes with our Instructional Technology teacher. The lab can also be reserved by teachers to be used for class projects, research, and additional technology endeavors. Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade classrooms have ActivBoards and Active Panels. Tablets and Chromebooks are available to the students at all grade levels.

The middle school experience at Seton includes the use of Chromebooks and interactive ActivPanels. Seton Catholic School has initiated the 1 to Infinity program in grades 6, 7, and 8. It is the blending of technology and traditional learning throughout all subject areas. It is the infusion of 21st century skills across the curriculum. A key component of this program is the distribution of a personal device to each student for use at school and at home.

Infinite Opportunity

So what does 1 to Infinity mean? The goal is not 1 student to 1 device. The Seton goal is to enhance learning, to increase student access to infinite resources. Our goal is to create infinite opportunities for learning in and out of the classroom – beyond their years at Seton. The world’s use of technology is only increasing – our goal is to provide students with the technology base skills and critical thinking tools they will need to succeed in high school, college, and in future careers.

Providing each student with their own device is just one aspect of 1: Infinity. It is a tool, not the focus. The goal is to foster lifelong learners, responsible digital citizens, and creators instead of consumers.

Seton fosters 21st century learning skills. Teachers strive to develop critical thinking, communication, problem solving, collaboration, community, and creativity through the integration of technology into the core curriculum.

Technology is constantly evaluated to remain authentic and with a vision to the future.
